Tributes Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt ready to express about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has passed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the production, remarking that he could not remember "a single day without laughter".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a different essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate put a security hold on the cases to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a record noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the killings, public figures offered different reactions.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making provocative remarks that were widely condemned by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan described the comments as "disturbing" and remarked they revealed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an associate should have acted when the choice to comment on the death was made.
