Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, representatives had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge comes as the sports world had expressed its support for the star in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
